Pug Breeders: Staying Away From Mass Breeders

By: Jenny Donaldson

Pugs are definitely popular dogs and the best place to get a dog of any breed is from a breeder, but it is important that people realize that there are both good and bad breeders out there. There are good Pug breeders and then there are those which are known as mass breeders, and who basically breed as many dogs as they possibly can simply for the profit of it and who do not take proper care of the dogs.
These types of problems usually become embedded within the dog's personality and can be incredibly difficult and even seemingly impossible to get rid of even with proper training. One of the best ways to determine if a particular breeder is good or bad is by asking them to provide the necessary paperwork. This will ensure that they are legitimate and reputable and any good breeder will be more than willing and able to provide a potential buyer with this information.
There are many great ideas that can help a person to find the best Pug breeders. One is to use the Internet, which is actually one of the best available resources here. Getting involved by joining some of the Internet discussion lists for Pugs is a great idea, and this can be a wonderful way to meet some really great breeders. Keep in mind that any good breeder is going to be mainly concerned that the dog is going to be heading off to a good home, so be prepared for them to ask some of their own questions as well.
Attending dog events and going to places where people with dogs gather such as dog parks and grooming shops will also be helpful because the good breeders are going to be active out in the dog world and can be found at these sorts of places.
This includes going out to where dogs gather, including dog parks, grooming shops, training centers and pet supply stores. The Internet is also going to be a great resource here and can help a person become aware of the different breeders available in their area.
The process of finding good Pug breeders really does not have to be all that difficult, as long as the person is willing to put the necessary time and effort into it. Keep in mind that any good breeder should be able to provide a list of references of clients that they have had in the past.
Good breeders will typically have just as many questions for the potential buyer as they will have for them, and so be wary of breeders whom are a little too easy to buy from. Good breeders want to ensure that their dogs are going to be heading to the best of homes where they will be properly taken care of and loved.
Some questions they may ask the person is whether or not they have children and if so how old they are, what size of home and yard they have, and how many people live in the home.
